BERAT, ALBANIA

Berat is a town in Southern Albania with a population of 45,000 (many of them Christians). It is located on the right bank of the Osum river. Here were buried Gorazd and Angelarius, pupils of the two brothers Cyril and Methodius. The town was proclaimed a museum and is under the protection of UNESCO because of the well-preserved typical residential architecture, churches and medieval fortification walls.
