BULGARIA AND ROMANIA IN 12 DAYS

DAILY PROGRAM

DAY 1

Arrival in Sofia. Meet and greet with the guide at the airport. Transfer to the city centre. City tour of Sofia including visit of Alexander Nevski Cathedral and St. George Rotunda – the oldest building in the city, dating to the times of the Roman empire (approx. 2 hours walking tour). Accommodation at hotel. Overnight in Sofia.

DAY 2

Breakfast. Departure for the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second most important city (2 hours’ drive). Sightseeing tour of Old Plovdiv - Ethnographic Museum, Roman Stadium, St. Constantine and Helena Church, the Roman Theatre (approx. 2,5 walking tour). Accommodation at the hotel. The rest of the day is free for time at leisure. Overnight in Plovdiv.

DAY 3

Breakfast. Departure for the Rose Valley and the town of Kazanlak. Visit the famous Thracian Tomb and the unique Rose Museum. Departure for the Black sea coast. Arrival in Nessebar in the evening. Check-in at hotel and overnight in Nessebar or Sunny Beach.

DAY 4

Breakfast. Walking tour in the Old town of Nessebar included in UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List (approx. 2 hours walking tour). Free afternoon for sunbathing at the beach. Overnight in Nessebar or Sunny Beach.

DAY 5

Breakfast. Morning departure for the sea capital of Bulgaria – the city of Varna. City tour of Varna including the Sea Garden, Varna Cathedral, Roman Baths (approx. 2 hours walking tour). Accommodation at the hotel in Varna. In the afternoon - free time in Varna, or optional half-day tour to Balchik with a visit to the University Botanical gardens and Romanian queen Mary's palace. Overnight in Varna.

DAY 6

Breakfast. Check-out and departure for Veliko Tarnovo (4 hours' drive). Arrival in Veliko Tarnovo around noon. Check-in at hotel and short rest. Sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo including a visit of Tsarevets Hill (approx. 2 hours walking tour). Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

DAY 7

Breakfast. Departure for Romania. Arrival in Poiana Brasov Mountain resort in the late afternoon (7 hours' drive). Check-in and overnight at hotel in Poiana Brasov Mountain Resort.

DAY 8

Breakfast. Departure for the Bran (1 hour drive). Visit of the mediaeval Bran castle, redecorated by Romanian queen Mary in the first half of the 20th century. Continue to the town of Brasov (1 hour drive). Tour in Brasov old town - the central square, the famous Black Church, Strada Sforii, Catherine gate (approx. 1 hour walking tour). Return to the hotel. Overnight in Poiana Brasov Mountain Resort.

DAY 9

Breakfast. Free day for relax and leisure in the mountain resort. Possible cable car ride to the mountain peak. Overnight in Pojana Brasov.

DAY 10

Breakfast. Drive to Sinaia. Visit the famous and very beautiful Peles Castle, residence of Romanian King Carol I. Arrival in Bucharest in the afternoon and accommodation. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 11

Breakfast. Panoramic tour of Bucharest with local guide: old town, Parliament house, Romanian Athenaeum, Revolution Square, University Square. Free time at leisure. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 12

Breakfast. Transfer to Bucharest airport and departure.
