DAY 1 |
Arrival in Zagreb. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 2 |
Breakfast. Walking tour of Zagreb (2 hours): the biggest Catholic cathedral in Croatia, Dolac market, mediaeval Stone Gate, St. Mark's church with its famous colour-tiled roof, Lotrcak tower, Ban Josip Jelacic central square. Free time in the center for a walk around the parks or individual visit to museums. In the afternoon – visit of the Natural Park Lonsko Polje - one of the biggest wetlands in Europe where you can observe numeous species of birds and other animals. Return to Zagreb. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 3 |
Breakfast. Drive to Plitvice lakes - one of the most beautiful and best preserved national parks in the country. This is why the entire lakes and surrounding area with exceptional beauty were declared a national park in 1949 and are listed on the UNESCO`s list of World Heritage Sites. It is a valley situated between high forested mountains in which lie, one below another, a string of sixteen beautiful lakes of crystal blue and green waters. Fed by small streams and brooks, they spill into each other in 92 foaming cascades and thundering waterfalls. The lakes themselves cover about 2 square km and the entire national park covers 200 square km. The Plitvice lakes`scenery will simply delight you regardless whether you are walking the paths and wooden bridges, taking a boat ride or just taking photographs. Walking tour in the lake area (about 4 hours). Drive back to Zagreb. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 4 |
Breakfast. Visit to the mountain Medvednica for a short walk to the old fortress Medvedgrad. Drive to Opatija – the first summer resort on the Adriatic coast. Accommodation and overnight in Opatija.
DAY 5 |
Breakfast. Visit of the beautiful Brijuni islands – one of the most picturesque places in Croatia. Once a residence place for the Jugoslavian leader Josip Broz Tito, now visitors can admire the small zoo while riding a tourist train. Sightseeing tour in Pula. The town is most famous for the ancient Roman amphitheatre - 1st century AD building still used for concerts nowadays. Among the other points of interest are the cathedral, the temple of Augustus, Irish writer James Joyce's sattue. Drive back to Opatija. Overnight in Opatija.
DAY 6 |
Breakfast. Drive to Postojna. Visit to the most spectacular cave in Europe. Walk among the rocky formations, grand galleries and of course ride with the unique cave train with a possibility of seeing the little creature proteus inhabiting the cave. Visit to the Predjama castle, built in front of the entrance of a large cave. Drive to Ljubljana. Accommodation. Overnight in Ljubljana.
DAY 7 |
Breakfast. Walking tour of Ljubljana: river Ljubljanica, market place, town hall, Dragon's bridge, Triple bridge, Preseren square, Congress square. Free time. In the afternoon – visit to the lake Bled. A lovely place where you can admire the unique Julian Alps or take a boat to the small island in the middle of the lake. Drive back to hotel. Accommodation. Overnight in Ljubljana.
DAY 8 |
Breakfast. Transfer to Zagreb/Ljubljana airport and departure.
