Sremski Karlovci is a small town 10 km from Novi Sad. This is one of the most important cultural centres of the serbs. The serbian patriarch used the large theological complex in the centre of the city as his residence until 1936.
The first gymnasium in Serbia is at the central square and nowadays is hosting a small exposition. The region is well known as a wine destination, which starts with the roman emperor Mark Aurelius Prob, who firstly ordered planting vines.
The most famous kind of wine, which originates from here is called "bermet" and was on the wine menu of Titanik.
