DAILY PROGRAM

DAY 1

Arrival at Bucharest Airport. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation and time at leisure. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 2

Breakfast. Guided sightseeing tour in the historic center of Bucharest: Palace of Romanian Parliament (House of People), Unirii Square, Romanian Patriarchy, Old Court, Stavropoleos Monastery, Lipscani Street, Calea Victoriei. Free time at leisure, or optional half-day tour to the Ceausescu House and the museum of the Romanian village “Dimitrie Guşti” (tour duration – approx. 5 hours). Visit to the former residence of Romanian communist leader Nicolae Ceauşescu – huge villa with 80 rooms, private residence of the family. From here we continue to the Museum of the Romanian village. This wonderful open-air museum represents hundreds of original houses and churches from all the territory of Romania, giving you a great introduction to Romanian culture and traditions. Optional dinner at traditional Romanian restaurant. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 3

Breakfast. Free time in Bucharest, or optional one-day tour to Slanic Prahova (tour duration – approx. 9 hours). Departure in the morning towards Slanic. Visit to the old Unirea Salt mine, nowadays turned into a museum and wellness center. You will descend by buses through the old tunnels to a depth of more than 200 meters to the 14 halls of the mine, where temperature throughout the year is about 13ºC. Underground you will witness sports playgrounds, salt statues, small museum, Orthodox chapel and many more wonders. After your free time, continue with a visit to the local Salt Museum of Slanic Prahova, where you will learn about the history of salt extraction and its importance about the local community. Return to Bucharest. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 4

Breakfast. Free time in Bucharest, or optional visit to Therme Bucureşti – the largest indoor wellness center in Europe, located in the northern outskirts of Bucharest. Transfer from the hotel to Therme Bucureşti, where you will have 4,5 hours to enjoy the amenities: 10 thermally heated pools, 11 saunas, 16 water slides. You will have access to both areas of the center: The Galaxy and The Palm. The Galaxy is designed for active recreation and features water slides, wave pool, children’s pool. The Palm (not accessible for children below 15 years old) features variety of thermal pools, saunas and a botanical garden for relaxation. Return to the hotel. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 5

Breakfast. Free time in Bucharest, or optional one-day tour to Snagov and Comana (tour duration – approx. 9 hours), two beautiful natural locations in the outskirts of Bucharest famous for the medieval monasteries erected on the shores of picturesque lakes. Departure for Snagov Monastery, nestled on an island in the Snagov lake to the north of Bucharest. Visit to the complex built in the 15th century, according to a local legend – burial place of Vlad Dracula. Departure for Comana. Free time for a walk in Comana natural park along the beautiful alleys on the shores of Comana lake. Visit to Comana Monastery, founded by Vlad Dracula about 1461. Continue for the Crafts Village, where you will have the chance to see local artisans’ workshops, presenting different crafts typical for the Romanian village: tailors, blacksmiths, reed work, ceramic workshop. Visit to the paper mill workshop museum, presenting the largest historical printing and bookbinding collection in Romania. Return to Bucharest. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 6

Breakfast. Free day in Bucharest for shopping, stroll in the old town, individual visits of local museums, or optional one-day tour to Peleş and Bran Castles (tour duration – approx. 12 hours). Departure in the morning towards the Carpathian Mountains and the famous Romanian mountain resort of Sinaia, where Peleş Castle is located. Visit to the castle – residence of the Romanian royal family in the end of 19th – beginning of 20th century, it is impressive with its German Neorenaissance architecture. Departure for Transylvania for a visit to Bran Castle – former border fortification at the frontier between medieval Wallachia and Transylvania, it has been fully refurbished under the rule of Romanian queen Mary in the years between the two world wars. Bran Castle is also famous as Dracula Castle, due to the similarity with the descriptions of the castle of Count Dracula in the famous novel of the Irish writer Bram Stoker. Return to Bucharest in the evening. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 7

Breakfast. Free time in Bucharest, or optional one-day wine tour (tour duration – approx. 8 hours) including visits and wine tasting at two of the most famous Romanian wineries. Departure in the morning towards Buzau County. Visit to Lacerta Winery. The 82 ha of sunbathed vineyards making wine assortments with numerous gold medals at specialty contests, the architectural experience and the 7000 years of wine history of the place make this visit a must-feel experience. You will have the chance to taste a selection of white, red, rosé and table wines. Continue to Budureasca Winery. Inaugurated in 2013, it is the largest and most modern wine cellar in Romania, nestled amidst picturesque 275-hectare vineyard. During the visit you will have the chance to learn the intricacies of wine evaluation and enjoy curated wine-tasting session, offering an insight into the fine wines that Budureasca prides itself on thanks to the mixture of modern technology and the millennial winemaking processes. Return to Bucharest. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

DAY 8

Breakfast. Free time in Bucharest, or optional visit to Mogoşoaia Palace – former residence of Romanian prince Constantin Brancoveanu in the beginning of the 18th century, it represents one of the best examples of the Romanian baroque style named Brancovenesc. The palace complex is located amidst extensive green area. Transfer to Bucharest Airport and departure.

This tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility due to the significant walking distances.
