DAILY PROGRAM

DAY 1

Arrival at Belgrade Airport. Meet with local guide and transfer to the city. Panoramic tour in Belgrade with visit to the largest Orthodox church in the world – St. Sava. Lunch at a local restaurant. Check in at the hotel. In the afternoon – walking tour in Belgrade from the Republic Square along the main pedestrian street (“Knez Mihaylova”) to Kalemegdan Park and the Belgrade Fortress with its picturesque panorama to the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Belgrade. 

DAY 2

Breakfast. Departure for Vojvodina. Short sightseeing tour of the small town of Sremski Karlovci – one of the most important Serbian spiritual centres, famous for the abundance of local wineries. Wine tasting. Departure for Novi Sad – second largest city in Serbia, known as the Serbian Athens for its great role in the Revival of the Serbian people – here is the seat of some of the most important Serbian cultural institutions, including Matica Srpska. Here, on the shore of Danube River, you can witness one of the most impressive fortresses in Europe – Petrovaradin, called “Gibraltar on the Danube” – masterpiece of the fortification construction of the 18th century. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Belgrade. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Belgrade. 

DAY 3

Breakfast. Departure for Kovacica – small village in Vojvodina where local Slovak community has preserved its old traditions. Visit to the gallery of naïve art and the evangelical church, meeting with the community of local women and lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Belgrade and ascent to Avala Mountain for a visit to Avala Tower. From the top you can witness magnificent panoramic view of the Serbian capital. Return to the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight.

DAY 4

Transfer to the port of Belgrade for a full-day cruise along the Danube river downstream (about 9,5 hours). Breakfast and lunch on the ship. Along the route you will have the chance to enjoy the views towards Belgrade and Smederevo Fortresses, Morava river estuary, Rama Fortress, Silver Lake, Golubac Fortress, Iron Gates Gorge. Arrival at Tekija and transfer to the town of Kladovo. Check in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Kladovo.

DAY 5

Breakfast. Free time in the morning to use the SPA centre of the hotel. Departure for the complex of Rayacke Pivnice close by the town of Negotin – a place famous for its old wineries that preserved the atmosphere of 18th and 19th centuries. Wine tasting and lunch at one of the wineries. Departure for Bulgaria. Short sightseeing tour of Vidin with visit to Baba Vida fortress – one of the few well-preserved mediaeval fortifications along the Bulgarian shore of Danube. Check in at the hotel in Belogradchik. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Belogradchik.

DAY 6

Breakfast. Visit to the Roman and Ottoman fortress of Kaleto above Belogradchik with wonderful panoramic view towards the famous Belogradchik rocks. Visit of Borovitsa winery and tasting of local wines. Lunch at a local restaurant. Departure for Rabisha and visit to Magurata cave – notable for its beautiful rock formations, it is world renown because of the cave paintings created by local prehistoric people. Return to Belogradchik. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Belogradchik.

DAY 7

Breakfast. Departure for the town of Chiprovtsi – one of the centres of Bulgarian catholic community, famous for its goldsmiths and carpet producers. Visit to Chiprovtsi Monastery and sightseeing tour of the town. Departure for Vratsa. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit to Vratsa historical museum where you can witness the ancient Rogozen Thracian treasure – huge set of silverware used by local rulers in religious rituals. Departure for Sofia. Accommodation at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Sofia.

DAY 8

Breakfast. Half-day sightseeing tour of Sofia with local guide, including visit of Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral, Church of St. Sophia, Central Market, Banya Bashi Mosque, etc. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon – visit to Boyana Church, included in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. Transfer to Sofia airport and departure.
