DAY 1

Departure at 9:00 a.m. in front of Bohemia Gray Line`s office (address: 7 Knyaz Aleksandar Dondukov Blvd., Sofia)

Departure for Rila Monastery, which is one of Bulgaria's most important UNESCO World Heritage sites. It is the most exquisite example of monastery art and architecture of Bulgaria located in the picturesque heart of the mountain.

Guided visit to the monastery complex. The Church of the Nativity of Virgin Mary keeps the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary, splendid gilded iconostasis and the chest with the relics of St. Ivan Rilski. In the court are located the medieval battlements of Hrelyu's tower. During your free time you will be able to visit the church museum with the wood-carved cross of monk Rafael - masterpiece of traditional woodcarving, taste the famous local mekitsi (kind of a doughnut) and the traditional Bulgarian yogurt. Return to Sofia.

Duration: approximately 7 hours. The tour ends in front of Gray Line`s office (address: 7 Knyaz Aleksandar Dondukov Blvd., Sofia).

Please wear comfortable shoes suitable for long walks - the courtyard of Rila monastery is paved with cobblestones.

Strict dress code should be respected when visiting Bulgarian monasteries: clothing should cover the shoulders for both men and women. Women are adviced to avoid wearing short skirts or shorts.

Weather in Rila Mountains is unpredictable. Due to the height it is always colder in the monastery than in Sofia. Bring light jacket in summer, and warmer clothes in winter.

Group tour. Minimum of 2 participants is required to confirm this tour. If this minimum is not met, the tour will be cancelled and you will receive an email within 24 hours before departure. In the unlikely event of such a cancellation, your choice of a refund, reschedule or alternative tour will be offered.

You must print the voucher and bring it with you or display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the boarding point.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts.

The tour is not suitable for disabled people.

All reservations are fully refundable when cancelled up to 24 hours in advance.
