DAY 1 |
Arrival in Sofia. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Guided walking tour of Sofia. Visit of Alexander Nevski Cathedral - one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in Europe, as well as one of Sofia’s symbols and a primary tourist attraction; St. George Rotunda, the National Theatre, the former Royal Palace, the President Hall, St. Nedelya Church, etc. Optional dinner at a traditional restaurant with folklore show. Overnight in Sofia.
DAY 2 |
Breakfast. On the way visit to the famous Starosel Thracian tom and Starosel Winery with lunch, wine tour and wine tasting.
In the afternon deaparture for Plovdiv, which is European Capital of Culture 2019 and second biggest city in Bulgaria. It was inhabited by the Thracians, Romans, Slavs, Bulgarians, Ottomans, whose traces have turned the town into a living museum.
A place of special interest is the old part of the town. Walking tour in the old town. During this tour we will take a walk on the cobbled streets of the old center to discover the the amazing houses from Bulgarian Revival period and churches. We will also see the Ancient Roman Theater, symbol of Plovdiv, and marvel at other remains from the largest Roman city in Bulgaria.Visit to the Ethnographic Museum. Free time along the main walking street, Kapana creative district and city garden.
Overnight in Plovdiv.
DAY 3 |
Breakfast and departure for Bachkovo. Visit to Bachkovo Monastery, dating back to the 11th century and considered to be one of the most important and well-preserved Bulgarian monasteries. Visit to the monastery church of the Virgin Mary (dating from 1604), which treasures the wonder-working icon of the Virgin Mary Eleusa from 1310. Departure for village of Yustina.Wine tasting in local wine cellar. Drive back to Plovdiv. Overnight in Plovdiv.
DAY 4 |
Breakfast. Departure for Stara Zagora. On the way visit to the village of Mogilovo and Midalidare Estate. Wine tour and wine tasting in the winery.
Arrival in Stara Zagora.Walking tour in the city center with visit to the Ancient Roman Theater and the local historical museum. Free time.
Departure for Veliko Tarnovo. Accommoation and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
DAY 5 |
Breakfast. Visit to the Institute for viticulture and wine production in Pleven.
Departure for village of Oreshak and Troyan Monastery. Visit to Troyan Monastery – one of the largest Bulgarian Orthodox monasteries famous for the magnificent murals in the main church. Drive to Sofia. Accommodation and overnight in Sofia.
DAY 6 |
Breakfast. Departure for village of Oreshak and Troyan Monastery. Visit to the permanent Exhibition - Market of the Folk Arts and Crafts in the village of Oreshak. Visit to Troyan Monastery - one of the largest Bulgarian Orthodox monasteries famous for the magnificent murals in the main church. Drive to Sofia. Accommodation and overnight in Sofia.
DAY 7 |
Breakfast. Free time. Transfer to the airport and departure.
